Elderly women killed by the armed forces in Aden

Posted by FREE ADEN on July 2, 2009

A group of armed forces, made up of the Central Security, special forces and policewomen, estimated at more that 200 people, attacked the house of one of the southern citizens. The armed forces tried to force the man and his family out of their home in Sheikh Othman, Aden. The family refused to leave their home and resisted, as a result of that the armed forces intimidated them by using live bullets and tear gas, which resulted in the death of an elderly woman. The use of force resulted in the suffocation of some women and children, as well as the destruction of the house, leading them to flee outdoors in horror and dismay. The Sheikh’s and leaders of the Bakzam tribe held a meeting to discuss this issue and to think of an appropriate response towards this behavior.
